Penfold Grange

PENFOLDS Grange is the quality standard against which all other Australian red wines are judged. To share a mature Grange, 15 to 20 years old, in fine condition, is one of the great wine experiences. We have a small parcel of 1995 rated by Robert Parker as 92 points, the 1993 rated 91 points, then 1992 rated 92 points and the 1984 rated at 94 points. All are withing their maturity window.

The first vintage of Grange was created in 1951 by wine maker Max Schubert. Before 1989 it was labelled Penfold Grange Hermitage is made primarily of Shiraz grapes with a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Unlike many new world creations Grange is made not from a single vineyard but is blended each year. The blending is a carefully guarded secret.
