Burgundy 2010

The 2010 Burgundy does not have the fanfare of the 2009 vintage but what has been produced is quite outstanding.
The cool growing season meant that the wine were more steely and racier. Many growers dramatically reduced their production, in some cases by almost 40% and Grape selection was critical in order to harvest the best. The berries were small giving a high ratio of juice to skin, hence plenty of tannins, body and colour. The good weather in September provided the sunshine for the grapes to ripen and so creating vibrantly fresh wines. The wines are quite splendid and very approachable, great fruit, fresh aromas, supple tannins. The wines are aromatic and elegant with fresh, ripe fruit, good tannins and acidity.
